The Let’s Go Fishing Pope County Area Chapter has begun booking fishing trips and cruises for the 2015 summer season! After 55 fishing and cruising trips last summer, LGF is expecting an even busier season this year, which means more volunteers are needed!
The Let’s Go Fishing Pope County Area Chapter is a non-profit organization aimed at enriching peoples’ lives by providing on-the-water experiences for area seniors (55+) and veterans. Fishing trips and cruises are provided to these individuals at no cost, due to the generous support from businesses, organizations, and individuals in the area. There’s also a special kids program designed to give young people frequent access to fishing, as well as inspire a lifelong interest in angling.
Let’s Go Fishing is seeking volunteers to lead or assist on the senior trips (late morning or early afternoon), as well as the youth trips (evenings). To be a Captain or First Mate, you simply take the required LGF training, which can be completed in an afternoon. As captain, some angling and/or boat operation experience is helpful; as first mate, you simply as assist the passengers. Since trips and passengers are arranged by LGF’s coordinator, you’re only responsible for having a great time on the water with your guests!
If you (and maybe even friend!) are willing to volunteer your time and talents to Let’s Go Fishing, please contact Jim Goehring at (320) 805-0220. If you’d like to financially support Let’s Go Fishing, please send your donations to “Let’s Go Fishing – Pope County”, PO Box 135, Glenwood, MN 56334.
Get on board with Let’s Go Fishing! Make a difference in your life and the lives of seniors, veterans, and youth!
